Equiptment Needed
The following is a list of required standard equipment for a racing BMX bike to pass safety inspection.
- Bicycle - 20" or Cruiser (24" or 26")
- Wheels of dissimilar size cannot be used on the same bike.
- A girls or boys bicycle may be used.
- Motocross handlebars not to exceed 28-1/2" including grips.
- Handlebars must have grips in good repair. Ends must be covered.
- Pads must are recommended on cross bars, frame bar and gooseneck.
- Frame and handlebars must be in firm, not cracked, loose or damaged condition.
- Seats must be firmly attached.
- Pedals must be of rubber or metal and not broken.
- Spokes must be tight and none should be missing.
- Tires must be in good repair, no cord showing.
- Kick stands, reflectors, chain guards and front brakes must be removed.
- Axles protruding more than ¼" beyond nuts must be cut off or covered.
- All sharp ends must be covered.
- Bikes must have an operable braking device.
- Helmets must have permanent chin strap, either full face or with mouth guard.
- Shirts must be long sleeved, ¾ sleeved shirts require elbow pads.
- Pants should be of heavy material. No short pants may be worn. Hammers may be worn with long pants only.
- Gloves are recommended.
- All bikes must pass safety inspection before going on the track.
- Number plates must have numbers at least 3" high, be sticker free and be able to be seen by the scorers. Example: White plate, dark numbers, and dark plate, white numbers. If the scorers cannot make out the numbers you will not be scored.
